Summertime Soliloquy

Ah yes, SUMMER! This year, summer break looks drastically different from the others. We have to be cautious when swimming, we have to have super dry hands from all the germ-x, and we cannot have random conversations with people without thinking about germs. Who would have thought? I know I didn’t.

This summer has been different for me in many ways. I never got to officially tell college friends goodbye—like many of us. We never got to have a final coffee date, a mass graduation, a huge celebration, etc. However, as we see this summer progressing we are seeing more covid-19 freedoms (be sure to practice safety in these moments of freedom)!

In the midst of quarantine and lonesome boredom, our earth has been LIVING IT UP! She is healthy and beautiful! GOOD JOB GOD! So even if we are still asked to social distance, respect the rules, and get outside to acknowledge the healing Mother Earth has done! Fresh air, birds chirping, skin burning (redhead problems, always spf!), and just being still to take it all in! *especially, vitamin D!*

Each of our summers look different. Some of us travel, some hike, some sleep in till noon, some work, some of us have class, and some of us feel so lonely. Some of us feel stressed. Some of us feel tired. Summer, for some of us, is a season of sadness (Lana Del Ray?). But really, we aren’t in our normal environment of busyness, we aren’t around our friends, we are not in the everyday routine, and that is hard. Sometimes it is hard to read God’s word. Sometimes it is hard to pray. Life can be hard and overwhelming at times. I know for me—it has been. BUT I am reminded of the sunshine, the birds chirping, earth taking a break to get better. This is our time to sit in the sunshine, to listen to the carefree birds chirp, a time for us to get better. Anything that attacks you (stress, anger, loneliness, fear, doubt, worry, body image, confidence, etc.) is not from the One who calls your name. It is from the one who wants to steal your joy in this season of growth and cultivation.

Whenever you feel attacked, lonely, or not good enough—call that mess out And bless it out sister! Because you are worthy and justified to dance in the sun, to feel, to take your worries to Jesus, and to breath in the fresh air. I don’t know your walk in life. Most of you do not know mine—each walk is different, but it is up to you to either drag your feet or to dance in the midst of chaos. I choose to dance. *******************************************************

If you need someone to talk to, feel free to subscribe below! If you are feeling lonely and lost, please reach out to someone close to you and ask for prayer. You are loved. You are chosen. You are radiant. Do not let this season be dry because the enemy wants to alienate you, join together and share with one another, ease your burden!

Great Scripture That Inspires Me—especially to write this post!

“Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:25-28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33-34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

‭‭James‬ ‭5:13-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬
